Description:

This workshop focused on the development of rule of law interventions and fostered further understanding of country context and justice systems from an interdependent perspective. The program occurred over three days, and participants learned through a mix of interactive lecture, practical hypothetical exercises, office hours, and small-group discussion of a sample project developed by the participant in order to develop better programming decisions. Because this program builds on the skills learned in ROLC’s Country Analysis Workshop, those considering participation in future iterations are encouraged to take the Country Analysis Workshop first, but it can also be taken as a stand-alone workshop.

Learning Objectives:

– Participants will be able to construct a rudimentary context map of their target justice subsector in their country of focus;

– Participants will be able to construct a project design specific to their reform “target,” (institutional, capacity, procedural, etc.) considering identified complexities and assumptions; and

– Participants will have developed a refined project design over the course of the workshop.

This event is open to all USG personnel, regardless of hiring mechanism or location. The content will be useful for those engaged in any aspect of rule of law, justice, or anticorruption programming (i.e., working with courts, police, corrections, advisory support, civil society, etc.).
